Learn More About Gyumri and the Tour Stops
Best Time to Visit Gyumri
The Gyumri tour is available throughout the year. Spring and autumn are best for longer walks, summer is usually cooler than Yerevan, and winter gives the historic city a distinctive atmosphere.
April–May and September–October usually offer comfortable weather for walking through Kumayri, exploring the squares and photographing the tuff façades of Old Gyumri.
Summer in Gyumri is generally cooler than in Yerevan. Bring a light jacket or windbreaker for evening walks and the exposed viewpoints near the Black Fortress.
Snow makes Old Gyumri especially atmospheric, and there are far fewer visitors. Warm clothing and suitable footwear are essential because of frost, wind and slippery surfaces.
Who Is the Gyumri Tour For?
The private format allows us to adapt the walking pace, duration of stops and itinerary to the interests and needs of your group.
Enjoy a relaxed walk through Old Gyumri, beautiful photo opportunities and enough time to experience the city’s distinctive atmosphere.
The private format allows you to make additional stops, choose a comfortable pace and leave more time for rest and meals.
For larger groups, we can arrange a comfortable minivan or minibus with capacity for up to 17 passengers.
Kumayri, its tuff mansions, historic churches and the Black Fortress reveal different periods in the history of Gyumri.
What to Bring on the Gyumri Tour
Much of the Gyumri experience involves walking, so it is best to choose your clothing and footwear according to the season and weather.
Gyumri is generally cooler and windier than Yerevan, especially in the morning, evening and around the Black Fortress.
Suitable footwear is recommended for Kumayri’s cobbled streets, steps and occasional uneven sections along the route.
A small supply of water is useful during the longer drive and while walking through the historic centre of Gyumri.
In summer, bring a hat and sun protection. In spring and autumn, a compact raincoat or umbrella may be useful.
If you would like to add Marmashen, Harichavank or museums in Gyumri, please mention this when booking so that we can calculate the tour duration and final price in advance.
